We are beginning a church-wide prayer focus. Each month all age groups will be focusing prayer on a common people group. Please use the prayer guide provided below to help remind you to pray for them regularly throughout the month.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭18‬
August: Educators
There are several hundred teachers, administrators, teacher’s assistants, and janitorial staff that work tirelessly for the children in our community.  They are often overworked and underappreciated.  They need our prayers and support.

Please pray that:
• The Lord will work through our educators to demonstrate kindness, especially to kids with rough situations.
• Create an atmosphere of peace in each classroom.
• Show our educators ways to exemplify Jesus to their students.
• The Lord will give guidance for educators and administrators to make wise decisions.

Scripture verse:
• Deuteronomy 32:2a “Let my teaching fall on you like rain; and my word settle like dew.”
• Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For the Lord your God is the one who will go with you; he will not leave you or abandon you.”

Suggested prayer:
Heavenly Father, we lift up the educators in our community who play such a vital role in shaping the minds of our children.  Grant them wisdom, patience, and creativity in their teaching. Help them to instill knowledge and values that will develop strong character in their students. May they be a source of encouragement and inspiration to all those they teach.  Bless educators with strength and passion for their all-important work.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A possible action:
• Bake a cake for the teacher’s lounge at a school of your choice.
• Send a card to a teacher that you know.
• Call a local school and ask how you might donate to a teacher’s wish list.

October: The Needs of Our Church
The Needs of Our Church

There are many people in our church that are struggling with health issues, experienced the loss of a loved one, and many other equally difficult situations. These families need our prayers.

Please pray that:
  • The church members that are sick would be comforted.  Let the medical staff have the wisdom to know the course of action that would help them to become well.
  • The Lord would bless and comfort all who are grieving the loss of a loved one.  Help them to know that you are with them.
  • The Student Pastor Search team is able to find God’s man for this position. Create unity within the team and guide them by the Holy Spirit.
  • The upcoming Trunk or Treat event ministers to the people in our community.  Pray that our church members come out to support this opportunity for service.
Scripture verse:
  • John 16:33 “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
  • Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Suggested prayer:
Merciful God, we pray for those who are struggling with mental and physical health issues. Bring healing to their bodies and minds, and grant them comfort in their pain.  Please, comfort those with hurting hearts and make Your presence known to them in a special way.  Bless the Trunk or Treat ministry and provide workers to help reach others for You.   In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A possible action:
  • Get the church’s prayer list and keep it in a place where you have your quiet time. Pray for them throughout the week.
  • Write a note of encouragement, text or call someone who is struggling in our church family.
  • Pray how you can participate or help with Trunk or Treat.
November: The Persecuted Church
Persecution of a person’s faith has existed since the conception of the church.  Currently, over 365 million Christians all over the world are being persecuted in some way for their faith in Christ.  They suffer the loss of jobs, their homes, social standing, torture and even death. In over 50 countries around the globe persecution of Christians is ranked extreme to very high.  Our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ desperately need our prayers.
Please pray that:
  • These persecuted Christians display kindness in the midst of slander; giving them a heart of forgiveness to those that are persecuting them.
  • As the Lord comforts them that they experience joy in the midst of suffering.
  • Those who are persecuting Christians be drawn to the Lord by the love and mercy shown to them by our fellow Christians.
Scripture verse:
  • John 16:33 “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
  • Matthew 5:11 “You are blessed when they insult you and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of me.”
Suggested prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ who face opposition and hardship for their faith.  Strengthen their resolve, provide them with courage, and surround them with your love.  Give them the words to say and help them to declare the gospel confidently.  May the ones persecuting your beloved children be so convicted that they turn to you in genuine faith in Jesus. Amen
A possible action:
  • Pick up a prayer guide or magazine for the persecuted church.  Pray for one person that is being persecuted for their faith.  Place their name in your Bible, on your nightstand, or wherever you will see it to remind you to pray for them.
